Submission logic is a legacy feature that still requires users to complete and submit the whole form before rejecting the response. To save respondent’s time, you may prefer to use stop logic which prevents users from saving or progressing the form when their answers meet set criteria.
Team and Enterprise plans.
Submission logic allows you to reject or only allow responses that meet certain criteria. This is a form of smart logic and works through building scenarios in which a response is denied or allowed.
Set Up Submission Logic
- Go to the form Settings > Submission logic.
- Check the box to Enable this feature.
- Use the drop-down menu to choose to Deny or Allow form submissions.
- Select Add scenario to build your rules.
- Set the Prevented submission error settings.
- Select Save submission logic.
- Save and Publish your form.
Building Rules to Deny or Allow Responses
Rule building in Submission logic works as it does for Smart Logic:
- In the 1st Scenario, use the drop-down menus to choose a Section, Field, and response.
- Select Add.
- Continue adding rules until your scenario is finished.
- Save the scenario.
You can add as many scenarios and rules within them as necessary. They layer, so submission will only be allowed or prevented if all requirements for the rules are met.
You can only build rules using options you have created manually. If you have used a list to set the options for a field, you won’t be able to build a rule pertaining to a specific option.
Customize the Prevented Submission Error Message
There is a default error message dialogue box that appears if respondents are prevented from submitting the form. You can customize the:
- Title
- Message body
- Button text
- Button URL
