Setting up a payment gateway is an Admin task. Once set up, form Authors can add or update payment fields to forms using existing gateways.
As Granicus makes continuous improvements and payment gateway providers update their software, new versions of payment gateways are released. In the Forms & Workflows integrations screen, new versions of payment gateways are marked with the New banner and older versions then become Legacy.
These new versions are often more secure, accessible, and user-friendly, so it is essential that you transition to new gateway versions as soon as possible. You can also use these instructions if you are switching payment gateway providers.
Set Up a New Gateway
- Go to Integrations > Connectors > Payment gateways.
- Select the new version of your payment gateway, or the provider you want to transition to. The connector's landing page will instruct you on the details you need to provide as you add the new connector and you may need to whitelist our IP addresses.
- Select Add and enter the relevant details in each field. Ensure that the Gateway name is different to your previous connection, so form authors can tell which gateway connection to use.
- Select Add and it will be listed under Active connections. You can return to this screen and select the gateway in the list to make and save any changes to the gateway and to see which forms are using it.
- Create a new test form and add the new gateway in a payment field, so you can test the form and payment flow completely. Your gateway provider should have given you test credentials when you signed up with them.
We recommend testing it on a demo form first, to ensure it works correctly before adding it to any live forms.
Update Existing Payment Fields
Once tested, you can start editing existing forms or instructing your form authors to do so.
- Go to Forms and find the form you need to update.
- Select Edit on a published form to go to the Build screen.
- Find the existing Payment field (it will be towards the end of the form in the final section) and select the gear icon to open the Payment field settings.
- Use the drop-down menus in the Ways to pay field to select your new gateway.
- Change any other required settings or add relevant extra details.
- Save and Publish your form.
