Each respondent's submission is assigned a unique receipt number to assist with internal review processes, and so respondents can use this number as a reference.
For each form, you can also assign a receipt number prefix to more easily associate the receipt numbers with the form. OpenForms has built-in validation that ensures that no two receipt prefixes can be the same.
For example, you might set your pet registration form with the prefix “petreg,” and a respondent’s submission will receive a unique receipt number of “petreg14.”
To assign a receipt prefix to a form:
- Go to the form Settings > General settings.
- Add the desired prefix to the Receipt number prefix field.
- Select Save general settings.
- Save and Publish your form.
If your form contains a payment field, we strongly recommend adding a unique receipt number prefix as some payment gateways can reject payments from multiple forms using the same prefix.
We also recommend configuring what respondents see after they submit their response.
